I’ve spent most of my life not bothered about holidays or travel and wondering what all the fuss was about, and then of course as you get older, your friends get coupled up and suddenly there’s no one to go away with anyway. So, I’d maybe go away every five years if someone suggested it but in all honesty I was never too bothered either way. Then in 2010, on a whim I rang up a travel agent to ask some questions about Egypt. By the time I’d put the phone down I’d booked a ten day trip. My love of holidays had begun. That was a group tour so, although travelling by myself, I was still guaranteed company for the duration. It wasn’t until three years later that I made my first solo trip, travelling to Tenerife for a week just before Christmas. I had been wary about going on my own as I thought I would get bored with a week of solitude, however, in the event I absolutely loved it and ever since, I’ve tried to get away at least three or four times a year.
To anyone wary of travelling alone, I highly recommend giving it a try. I meet all types of people, have made friends along the way and have lots of memories from all my holidays. I mainly do beach holidays but I’m branching out and trying other things now. When you gave a climate like we do in the UK, there’s nothing better than getting away to the sun during those Winter months. Happy travelling people 😊🌞
